Agri-Environmental Technical Services

Best Management Practices (BMP) Technicians, working through the South Saskatchewan River Watershed Stewards, promote watershed awareness and the Farm Stewardship Program through the Canadian Agricultural Partnership (CAP).  The CSFS program provides cost-shared funding for agricultural producers who wish to enact best management practices for environmental protection and stewardship on their farms. The South Saskatchewan River AETS covers the South Saskatchewan River Watershed (see map below).



A BMP is defined as any agricultural management practice which:

  • Ensures the long-term health and sustainability of land-related resources used for agricultural production.
  • Positively impacts the long-term economic and environmental viability of agricultural production.
  • Minimizes negative impacts and risk to the environment.
