The SSRWS wishes to sincerely thank all the volunteers who have and are participating in the Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) campaign against Zebra/Quagga Mussels. Your help is invaluable by increasing public awareness and substrate/shoreline monitoring. I truly appreciate your commitment.
As you are aware the invasive mussels species are moving toward Saskatchewan. The attached news release states they are at the Manitoba border. Your help is needed.
Public Awareness of the Zebra/Quagga Mussel AIS campaign will increase this year with a focus on fish derbies and boat/recreational dealerships. As well as maintaining the present substrate sampling and shoreline assessment locations (32) throughout the watershed, targeted substrate monitoring and increased signage will occur at Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park, Palliser Regional Park, Elbow Harbor and Blackstrap Lake. If you or your community wishes to have signage, an AIS presentation or volunteer for substrate monitoring please contact SSRWS. SSRWS would be happy to serve you.
